Jesse Hillard Swan was born 8/28/1853 in Blount County, Alabama. Martha Ann (Mattie) Shelton was born in December, 1859, in Mayfield (Graves Co.) Kentucky. She died 12/25/1906 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Mattie and Jesse were married November 10, 1881, in Midlothian, Texas (Ellis County). They had four children, all born in Wills Point, Texas (Van Zandt County). Edward Hartwell Swan was born on 9/24/1882, Lula Bell--3/14/1886, Ida Pearl, 9/15/1892, and Henry Stanley Swan, born January 14, 1896.
